An Update on the Political Situation in Honduras
As news of post-election civil unrest in Honduras gains more attention, the Olancho Aid Foundation would like to provide you with a report from Juticalpa. Most of the demonstrations have occured in Tegucigalpa which is three hours away. Please be reassured that our our employees, volunteers, and students, are safe and that we are monitoring the situation closely. We have been in touch with the U.S. embassy and are following their advice.
As of today, Honduran and global leaders and organizations are encouraging a political resolution to the situation.
A nationwide curfew has been put into place in Honduras and is expected to continue through Sunday, December 11th. If you would like further information we recommend coverage being provided by BBC News or check the OAS & EU report on the elections.
We continue to fulfill our mission to provide education and clean water to our communities. In the past week we have celebrated your generous contributions to our #HandsOnScience campaign, watched our latest group of students graduate from Instituto Oscar Cardenal Rodriguez, and participated in a Foundation-wide Christmas retreat. We have so much for which to be grateful!
We thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers for peace and justice in Honduras and appreciate your continued support of the Foundation.
Paz y bien,
The Olancho Aid Foundation
