Sharing Our Blessings: Cardenal Students Celebrate Children’s Day With Their Community
Children’s Day in Honduras is a time to celebrate childhood: to play, laugh, share, and simply enjoy being a child. It is also a reminder that every child has the right to rest, play, and participate in recreational and cultural activities. At Cardenal Institute, this celebration is also an opportunity to put into practice one of the values we seek to form in our students: sharing the blessings we have received with others.
This year, Cardenal students visited CEB Ramón Sarmiento, where they celebrated with 100 children, and Kinder San Francisco de Asís, where they shared the day with 30 more. Together, they helped create a special Children’s Day for 130 children.
The celebration included piñatas, candy bags, arroz con pollo, cake, refreshments, face painting, musical chairs, jump rope, egg-and-spoon races, dance contests, and other games. More than the activities themselves, the day gave our students a chance to practice generosity, empathy, teamwork, and community engagement in a very real way.
As a faith-inspired school, we believe gratitude becomes more meaningful when it leads us to share. Children’s Day offers a simple but meaningful opportunity for students to live out that value alongside others in their community.
A Children’s Day worth remembering
For the children at Ramón Sarmiento and San Francisco de Asís, the day meant games, food, laughter, and celebration. For our Cardenal students, it was also an opportunity to learn something deeper:
Joy becomes even more meaningful when it is shared.
We are proud of our students for helping create a Children’s Day centered on friendship, generosity, and community. For showing that some of the most important lessons in education happen when we put what we believe into practice.
