As we enter the sacred season of Lent, marked by prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, students return to school in Honduras for the beginning of a new academic year. While we welcome them back over the next 6 weeks, we’d like to introduce you to some of the people involved in each of our programs!
This will be a unique opportunity to deepen your spiritual connection and make a meaningful impact on the lives of primary and secondary students in Olancho, including those with special needs.
How can you participate during Lent?
Every week, we’ll select 3 people involved in our programs to share reminders for prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram or subscribe to our mailing list to receive an email on Fridays during Lent with specific intentions and suggestions you can use to strengthen your practice of:
Prayer – set aside time during your daily prayers to focus on the students, families, teachers, and leaders supporting education in Olancho, Honduras.
Fasting – consider how your fast brings you toward solidarity with the children and youth seeking the nourishment of knowledge in Honduras.
Almsgiving – pledge $1/day, or the amount that is right for you, during Lent to support Olancho Aid. If your fast includes giving up the daily coffee shop stop or something similar, you might consider pledging the amount you’ll save!
