Olancho Aid Spotlight: Pablo Sarmiento

Age: 32

Hometown: Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras

University: Francisco Morazan National Pedagogical University and the National University of Agriculture

When did you join Olancho Aid?

February 3, 2014

How did you first hear about Olancho Aid?

My friend, Francisco Barahona (the Comptroller at the Foundation), told me about the position and encouraged me to apply.

What is your role at Olancho Aid?

I am Water Project Coordinator. I oversee water purification systems at over 60 sites.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Everything. I love seeing other people happy and learning more about the communities that we serve.

Do you have a favorite memory?

The installation of the first project is one of my favorite memories. I went to the United States to attend a training, but there are so many pieces to put together that installing a new project is like a puzzle. I was really nervous about the challenge, but it turned out well.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

When I was younger, I wanted to be a professional soccer player and travel in an airplane, but so far I’ve only achieved one (flying).
