The Olancho Aid Foundation operates two Catholic educational institutions that provide hope and enable transformation through education.
Escuelita Nazareth
Special Education in Honduras
Children and youth at Escuelita Nazareth learn in a space where they feel safe, accepted and valued. They receive specialized attention and support from teachers who believe in their potential to both acquire life skills and reach personalized education goals. Nazareth is a loving and safe place in a country where acceptance and inclusion are rare for individuals with special needs.
Advocacy
Students, teachers, and families participate in events and advocacy campaigns to promote understanding and inclusion. Education and engagement of the public is prioritized for the well being of all those in the special needs community.
Familial Support
The hardships for those with special needs affect more than just the individual – the whole family faces challenges. Nazareth families have a network of friends who understand and support them. They also find respite daily, allowing many to seek employment or higher education for themselves. Financial support is offered to all families in need so that no student is left out due to economic need.
Instituto Oscar Cardenal Rodriguez
Cardenal High School offers college preparatory education for grades 7-11 in a Catholic environment. It is known as one of the best schools in the area based on consistently high scores on college entrance exams of graduates. The Institute offers educational tracks focusing on sciences and humanities. The programs are designed to prepare students to succeed in the professional workforce and to enable their pursuit of higher education.
Unique to Cardinal Rodriguez is a constant dialogue between science and faith, and an emphasis on moral, spiritual and civic values. The administration aims to provide an education that promotes leadership in our students so that these young individuals can make a positive contribution to the development of Olancho.
