Memories built after a year of volunteering for Olancho Aid Foundation…

TRAVELING AROUND HONDURAS

Roatan was one of the most amazing places I have ever visited. There was nice weather, friendly people, and wonderful beaches. I also enjoyed visiting Copan Ruinas. Learning about Mayan history was something really intriguing and mind opening.

NINOS/AS AT MARIA DE LOS ANGELES CHILDREN’S HOME

I have enjoyed sharing time with the kids at the Children’s Home. It is a blessing to be able to smile, laugh, and have fun with them. They always welcome you with a smile on their faces and say bye with a big hug and a happy “see you later”!

PASSION IN HONDURAS

On Sunday afternoons, I have also enjoyed attending soccer games with other volunteers and the Juticalpa community. The passion for the sport and the local team has brought much joy and happiness, but at times also sadness in the community when the team lost.

QUALITY TALKS

Having late night talks with some volunteers, chatting about how life is different for each one of us, and how we ended up coming to volunteer/serve in the same place in earth; a place in which you can learn many things while helping other people in need.

SURROUNDED BY STUDENTS

Working at Santa Clara Elementary School, being able to get a smile from a student when they arrive to school, give or receive those hugs that makes anyone happier, and helping them to figure out how to solve their “kids’ problems”.

LISTENING TO TEENAGERS

Working at the High Schools and learning how to be able to help the students to figure out what to do next, how to navigate the teenage life, which can be really confusing most of the time, and try to pass on helpful life lessons to deal with the “teenager life” back in the days.

MEETING YOUR STUDENTS IN THE JUTICALPA STREETS

It is always nice to bump into your students while walking around the city. Some of them will be a bit shy, but in most cases the kids especially from the elementary school will happily shout aloud “Hola Mister”, or “Hola Miss”, in the middle of the street.

VOLUNTERRING FOR A CAUSE

Working for Olancho Aid Foundation, being able to learn one step at the time, exchanging ideas with your coworkers, and contributing to the education and growth of many young children and teenagers.
