Thank you to outgoing board treasurer, Rob Privette, DVM, for his many years of service to Olancho Aid Foundation. Kind. Calm. Steady. If you’ve met Rob Privette, you know these adjectives fit. His term of volunteer service with the Olancho Aid Foundation Board of Directors ended in December and he will certainly be missed. The Foundation has been blessed by his many years of support and sincere care for the people of Olancho. In 2007, Rob took a sabbatical from his veterinary … [Read more...]
Letter From Carlos December 2020
Dear Friends, My heart gets heavy when friends ask, “how much more can Honduras take?” The successive challenges of the last year have layered hardship on the shoulders of the most vulnerable in my community. When it starts to feel overwhelming, I think of the verse below. It does not say that we must have gratitude for every circumstance, but in every circumstance. Despite the trials, I am grateful that we are not in crisis alone. God is with us always and He has opened the hearts of many … [Read more...]
Fall Update and Acknowledgements
Dear Friends, Across the world, the poor have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 94,500 Hondurans have tested positive for the disease. In the last month, Olancho became the region with the fastest growing rate of cases and tragically, the fatality rate in the state is over 12%. Access to care is limited, even more so for those who live in outlying communities. The needs of the community continue to grow and evolve. Olancho Aid has been able to help fund the … [Read more...]

Continuation of Services Announcement
Dear Friends, Thank you for all of your prayers and financial support that has allowed the Olancho Aid Foundation to continue its mission in Honduras. Your support has meant that our seniors graduated from Instituto Bilingue Santa Clara. It meant that we were able to transition to online education for students in both bilingual schools in order to complete the school year. It also allowed us to provide food and financial support for the families of our students and for our … [Read more...]
Living Our Mission During the Coronavirus Pandemic
Living Our Mission During the Coronavirus Pandemic On March 16th, Honduran officials implemented a shelter in place order for people across the country in hopes of slowing the spread of COVID-19. Olancho has strictly enforced the lock down, halting travelers in and out of the department. The massive impact on the economy means more people need assistance to meet their basic needs. Businesses and nonprofits around the world have been forced to evaluate their operations, finances, and … [Read more...]
EMBA Alumni Collaborate to Support a Community in Honduras
Inside Kellogg featured this article from Dr. Susan Nedza about experiences that influenced Olancho Aid's response to COVID-19. EMBA Alumni Collaborate to Support a Community in Honduras April 23, 2020 By Susan Nedza (EMBA 2000) I recall being assured on entrance to Kellogg that, as a graduate, I would be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead teams even in difficult circumstances. I recently had a chance to test that promise as the president of a U.S.-based non-profit … [Read more...]
Faith Serving Abroad
Faith Serving Abroad Looking from the time I started volunteering in late August in Julticalpa, Honduras until now, it has truly been such an experience. I was originally supposed to come to Honduras a year ago but I decided to defer for a year. I felt that I was not mentally and emotionally ready to serve just yet. I do believe there is a time and place for everything. When I was finally ready to serve for at least four months, the Foundation offered to defer my service again, since … [Read more...]
